Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed his teammate at each of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by one point after winning in Mexico City recently, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying scheduled for the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he lost control at Turn Four during the early running.
The Japanese slid over the curbs on exit before spinning across the escape zone, and was blessed to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car third fastest, over half a second behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
